SDSU-AWWA and ASCE placed 4th out of 18 schools at the Pacific South West Environmental Competition
Led by Alex Garabedian with the help of AWWA helped SDSU take home 4th place, the best we have ever done since being a part of the Pacific South West Competition. A little excerpt from our faculty advisory in the lab, Dr. Youxian Wu:
"4th is the best place for SDSU in the Environmental Engineering Competition of PSWC since we joined the PWSC. In the past, we never achieved the top 10 out of 18 schools. We are very young in Environmental Engineering program and have never won UCLA, USC, Cal Poly SLO, Cal Poly Pomona, and Univ. of Arizona, which are all traditionally strong in Environmental Engineering program in USA. But this time you guys did it. Your diligent and creative work made SDSU the top 4, a great and unbelievable progress for SDSU Environmental Engineering program."

Thank you to Amy Bigelow and Cari Campbell for representing our student chapter as speakers at the California-Nevada section's Fall conference. They were given a 30 minute slot (with time for questions) and had at least 40 people attend to hear them speak! An expansion on the previous research, titled, "Detecting Microplastics in Water Streams Using Fluorescence Spectroscopy."
ACE15 Research, June 2015
